William E. “Bill” Hunt, age 74, of Ruston, LA, peacefully passed away in his home on September 21, 2024. Born on October 16, 1949, in Monroe, Louisiana, Bill grew up in West Monroe, Louisiana where he was a proud graduate of West Monroe High School and the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Bill was faithful to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a devoted father, and a cherished grandfather. His kindness, faithfulness, and generosity were felt by all who knew him, as he often lent a helping hand without seeking recognition. A true servant at heart, Bill was humble and selfless, always working behind the scenes. He was a long-time member of Trinity Methodist Church, where he spent countless hours volunteering in the youth ministry and through Weekend of the Cross.

Professionally, Bill dedicated his career to the local banking industry, where he built lasting relationships and made a significant impact on those around him. After 30 years of banking, Bill could be found in one of many North Louisiana courthouses running real estate or oil and gas title, making friends (and jokes), and fixing the copy machine.
He was preceded in death by his parents David and Jean Hunt. He is survived by his three beloved children, Logan Hunt (Megan), Landon Hunt (Anna), and Lauren Howard (Oliver) as well as their mother, Renee Hunt. His pride and joy were his nine grandchildren: Ethan, Cooper, Carlisle, Elizabeth and Catterson Hunt, Reese and Gray Hunt, and Liv and Lark Howard. Each grandchild was a source of immense joy and pride for Bill, and they will all miss their “Gramps.”
He is also survived by his brother, Jim Hunt, of Temple, TX.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to those who lovingly cared for him: Kelly Miller, Christy McCormick, Angela Miller, Shamone Gales, Ericka Hodges, and Kate Gould whose support enabled him to enjoy and gracefully walk through the last few years with dementia. Additional thanks are extended to Premiere Hospice for their care and support during his final days.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 5-7 pm, and the funeral service Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 10:00 am, both in the Burkhalter Chapel at Trinity Methodist Church in Ruston, LA.

Services are under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Bill was a great guy. Prayers for all family & friends. We love you Bill and will always remember our childhood friend.

So sorry for your loss. Such a special friend. Worked with Bill at CTB. And Joe worked along side him as a volunteer firefighter. He will be missed.

My heart goes out to the family. Bill was a great boss and was also a great friend. When I worked for him, he always made me laugh and smile no matter how rough my day had been. He's going to be very much missed. I pray for healing for the family. I know it won't be easy, but remember the good times and I pray that it warms your hearts. Love y'all

Saddened to hear news of Bill's passing. I enjoyed working with him in the banking years and then often seeing him at courthouse. Always a smiling face and laugh. Truly a great guy. Prayers for comfort Hunt family and loved ones.

Bill and I went to WMHS together. He lived one street over from me. He would pick me up many mornings in his ‘60 something model Volkswagon. He really drove that little car hard !, Think he liked to pop the clutch a little too much 🤪 Really a good kid back in those days. Never got in any trouble. Know he made it to the good place and hope i will meet him again. My condolences David Jones Class of 1967

This is so hard to write . Bill was one of our best and closest friends . We attended school together — after years of growing up - we reconnected with our partnership of bringing the West Monroe High School Class of ‘67 together . You were my strength at planning our fun activities with many “Get Togather’s “.Seems many friendships reconnected and grew .. You were a big part of the planning for our “25th “ ,”30th”, “40th” - and “50th” Class Reunions . You were our strength - held us all together .. We will be truly missed . it did not allow any space for the condolences so I am putting something here I did not have much time spent with Bill as I lived in Texas and my Dad, Clair Hunt, (who was Bill’s uncle) did not take us to visit too often but reading about him I can see what a great guy he was!! I am sorry for your loss.

I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Bill through his work at the Jonesboro State Bank and the Office of Motor Vehicles. He was extremely proud of you and talked about you whenever our paths crossed. Again, so sorry for this loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was a dear friend in high school and I enjoyed renewing our friendship at the many reunion planning committee meetings. He will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear of Bill's passing. My kids were in band with Logan & Landon, and the fact that those of us who chaperoned didn't have to pay attention to them was a testimony to their upbringing. I know the last few years have been difficult due to his dementia, but still there is grief at his passing.
