Graveside services for WILLIAM A. BUTCH POLAND, JR., 71, of West Monroe, LA, will be at 3 p.m. January 31, 2018, at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens, 8729 Hwy 80, West Monroe.Butch Poland passed away on January 30, 2018, at his home in the care of Louisiana Hospice and his family. He will be sorely missed and forever loved by his family and friends.Butch enlisted in the United States Navy on January 12, 1966 and served on the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63), for which he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the VietNam Service Medal with Four Bronze Stars, the Presidential Unit Citation, and the Republic of VietNam Campaign Medal. After receiving an Honorable Discharge as a First-Class Petty Officer (A01) from the Regular Navy on October 10, 1969, Butch returned to West Monroe and worked with his father at Monroe Exterminating before pursuing a career as an electrician. He worked as an electrical contractor and as an industrial electrician for several major contractors.Butch loved God, family, and country passionately. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Carlton Poland; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbye and James Pearson; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Amber Poland; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Tina Poland; daughter and son-in-law, Kristina and Rusty Bryan; sister and brother-in-law, Deborra and Tony Beard; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Randy Smith; in-laws, Susan and Stanton Groan, and Paul and Barbara Carlton; uncles and aunts, James and Carol Raborn; Richard Raborn; Linda and Bill Dew; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.Please make donations to your favorite charity in Butch Poland name in lieu of sending flowers.
