Willa Dean Deanie Salyer Baskin Willa Dean Salyer was born July 18, 1923 in Amarillo, Texas. She attended West Texas University. In 1947, she married Bill Baskin and moved to Ruston. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She belonged to several ladies social clubs and bridge clubs, including the Quattro Club. She was an avid tap dancer in her youth and continued dancing as an adult as a member off the Silver Bells Dancing Line of Adult Ladies in Monroe, Louisiana for several years. Mrs. Baskin managed De' An Gallery for numerous years and was a passionate artist. The Lord rescued her from the Devils Curse of Alzheimer on May 3, 2007 after an 18 year battle. She leaves behind her husband, W.S. Bill Baskin; one son, Colonel Toney W. Baskin and wife Melody of San Antonio, Tx.; two daughters, Sandra Gayle Berry and husband Charles of Dallas, Tx., Karen Dean van Dyke and husband Larry of Sedro Woolley, Wa.; sisters, LaMoyne Spencer, LaVern Daniels and husband Alfred; grandchildren, Wade Baskin, Shannon Torgay and husband Tomor, Dean Baskin, Lucas Baskin, Amanda Berry, Jessica Bates and husband Josh, Troy Lacobee and Kari, Angela Stuetteville and husband Brad, Kimberly Glorieux and husband Stephen; great-grandchildren, Emma Bates, Ashley Stuetteville, Brittney Stuetteville, Hunter Glorieux, Nicholas Glorieux; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves her four wonderful caretakers behind; Yvonne Sawyer, Sharon Bush, Rosalyn Hayes, and Lilley Lougen. Visitation will be 5-7pm Sunday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home with the private family burial Monday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Presbyterian Church of Ruston, 4 Paws Rescue at 2208 Cook Rd in Ruston, or to the charity of your choice.
