Funeral services for Wayne Aubrey Shipp, age 79, will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 1, 2021  (visitation from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm), at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane in Monroe, LA.  Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, 623 E. Hwy. 80, Monroe.

Wayne was born to James Marvin Shipp, Sr. and Margaret Rinehart Calloway Shipp (Mathus) on November 23, 1941 in Monroe, LA and was raised in Bosco, LA.  He was the middle of three sons.  He attended Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, LA.  He received a B.S. in accounting from Northeast Louisiana State College in Monroe, LA (University of Louisiana Monroe) in 1964.  He served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1964-1969 until his honorable discharge with the rank of Captain.  He worked as a computer systems analyst for multiple companies from 1969-2001, and retired from Koch Nitrogen Co. in Sterlington, LA after 25 years of service at that site.

Wayne married his loving wife, Annette McCoy Shipp, in 1969.  They lived in Ortley Beach, NJ, Greenville, SC, Jefferson City, MO, and Springfield, VA before making their home in Monroe, LA in 1976.  Together they raised two children, Bryan and Nora.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, James Marvin Shipp, Sr. and Margaret Rinehart Calloway Shipp Mathus; brothers, James Marvin Shipp, Jr. and Robert Rhinehart Shipp; nephew, Robert Charles Shipp; and wife, Annette McCoy Shipp.

Wayne is survived by his son, Bryan Shipp (Katherine); daughter, Nora Shipp Richardson-Foote (David); twin granddaughters, Hannah and Hayleigh Richardson; and step grandchildren, Blaise Foote and Emma Faller.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law and husband, Kathy and Kenny Wurst; sister-in-law, Kay Wilson; nephew, James Marvin Shipp, III (Nealey); nieces, Allison Shipp Booth (Scott), Karen Greene (Robert), and Amy Wurst; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to his loving friends and neighbors who have been by his side during his illness.  They would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the clinicians and staff of the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA for their compassionate care and support over the last two and a half years.
