Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. You cant fix 93. I guess that right. At least my Mom, Vivian Sandifer, born in Miller County, Georgia on August 7, 1924 couldnt fix it and she certainly tried. She was a Spitfire, a Firecracker, a Pistol, a Steel Magnolia. She was a lady who set high standards for herself and everyone else and lived up to them; but she was anguished when others did not. Few did, but she loved them anyway, and they loved her. She was the sweetest little old lady, but unrelenting in her demand for excellence. She is predeceased by her husband, Willie Lee Sandifer (married September 11, 1943), her mother, Ida Lee Roberts, her father, James Clifton Roberts, her brother, James Thomas Roberts, and her sister, Juanita Gengler. Only her brother, Garland Roberts, and her son, James Roy Sandifer, named for his maternal and paternal grandfathers (a measure of how much she valued the heritage that was her family) remain. James is an only child and has no children of his own and this is perhaps the greatest tragedy of Vivian life. She lived to see her beloved family dwindle away and was denied the pleasures of spoiling grandchildren, but she was loved and adored by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. She was attended in her final days by Ted and Marsha Johnson, Steve and Barbara Sandifer, Troy and Emily Wheeless, Penny Cook, Leslie Bishop, Allison Howard, Jo Lynn Harvey, and a host of others. People called her Aunt Viv, and no one will ever forget her ready smile and happy laughter. There will never be another Aunt Viv, but the world may long for one. Thank you, Savannah Grand for caring for my mother for so many years. Thank you, Landmark, for caring for her so tenderly in her final weeks.Visitation will be held Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
