Ima Violet Adkins Lann Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Funeral services for Ima Violet Adkins Lann, 83, of Bernice will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday November 25, 2012 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bernice with Bro. Mike Smith, Bro. Charles Headrick, and Pastor Al Womack officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Bernice under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Lann died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home in El Dorado after a brief illness. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University, Mrs. Lann obtained three Bachelor of Science of degrees in Journalism, Elementary, and Secondary Education. She was a beloved educator and taught for many years at Strong, Huttig, Marion, and 17 years at Junction City, AR, where she retired in 1991. She was involved in various organizations, including DAR, and Morning Star, but she was most known for her years of service as a pastor's wife and devoted member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted James Lann, and daughter, Merri-Leigh Lann. Survivors include three daughters, Eileen McDiarmid and husband, Ricky, of El Dorado, AR; Laura Thurlkill and husband, Billy, of El Dorado, AR; Andrea Spillers of Hot Springs, AR; and a son, Turner Jackson Lann, and wife Patti, of Shreveport, LA; eight grandchildren; ten great grand children; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jim Mabry, David Darden, Chris Gray, Jay Roberts, Wess Bowen, Tobe Grafton, Gary Williams, and Alan Gene Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Alzheimer's Association. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home and Sunday from noon until service time at the church.
