Funeral services for Verla Mae Corley Stringer, 88, of West Monroe will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 24, 2016 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe. Bill Roark will officiate. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe.Mrs. Stringer was born in Jena, Louisiana on May 27, 1927 and passed away April 22, 2016 in West Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald L. Stringer; her parents, Burley and Roberta Corley; her son Gerald K. Stringer and her brother Lewis Corley. Most of her life she was a homemaker and mother, but she also worked as a teacher's aide for special needs children for the Ouachita Parish School System for ten years. Mrs. Stringer graduated from Good Pine High School. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.Mrs. Stringer is survived by her children, daughter Beverly Cheryl Stringer Frost and husband Jerry, son Dr. Gary L. Stringer and wife Delilah, daughter Paula Jan Stringer Presnall and husband, Jimmie, and Kurt Stringer and e, Theresa; grandchildren Shawn Frost, Amanda Allen, Melissa Stringer, Brittany Stringer Myers and husband Justin, Leslie Presnall, and Kirstie Stringer Jordan and husband Blake and great-grandchildren Katelyn Sawyer, Dalton Allen and Caleb Frost; brother, Harold Corley and wife, Nelda; four sisters, Verna Appleby and husband Bill, Evelyn Mitchell and husband Dale, Linda Nolker, and Bess Slack; special niece, Robin and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Dewayne Corley, Tim Mitchell, Marty Cooper, Twyman Appleby, Philip Tarver, and Barry Robinson.Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Corley, Bill Appleby, Dale Mitchell, Jerry Frost, Jimmie Presnall, Ronnie Ray and Chuck Schatzle.Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
