Thomas Richard Lann, 74, of Ruston, LA, passed away on April 4, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Richard was born on October 15, 1948, in Ruston to parents Benjamin Curtis Lann, Sr. and Fannie Mae Colvin Lann. He graduated from Ruston High School in 1967 where, as quarterback, he led the Bearcats to the state playoffs that year. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1971 and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Richard had a varied career. His love of football led him to become the first football coach at Cedar Creek School. In 1973, he began working for Beall’s Department Stores and served as manager in Shreveport, Springhill, and Jonesboro stores. Leaving Beall’s, Richard owned and operated a dress shop in Natchitoches. After that, he became a regional manager and then trainer of managers for Sam’s Club in several states. Later, he worked as an independent salesman and store liquidation specialist. Richard loved to travel with his jobs, but in recent years, he enjoyed working with his sister and niece at their arts & crafts booth at Big Creek Trade Days.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Benjamin Curtis Lann, Jr.; sister, Alice Marie Lann Peterson; stepmother, Bobbie Sue Hogan Lann; and sister-in-law, Lisa Vandevere Lann.
Richard is survived by daughter, Heather Flournoy Bowling; son, Curtis deYampert Flournoy; daughter, Megan Lann Knezevic; and daughter, Rosalind Lann Robbins. Richard is also survived by his brother, Robert Charles Lann; his nieces Jennifer Peterson Austin and husband Robert, and Rachel Amelia Leigh Lann; his nephews Bob Lann and wife Emily, and Ben Lann; great niece, Lisa Lucille Lann; and great nephew, Kayden Austin.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 3 at 10 AM at the pavilion at Big Creek Trade Days, 327 California Plant Rd., Dubach, LA. Please join the family and bring your favorite memories to share.
