Interment to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mr. Dowdy was born July 3, 1928 in Ouachita Parish, LA and passed away March 29, 2007 in West Monroe, LA. Mr. Dowdy was owner and operator of Dowdy Paper Products. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 419 F&AM and Monroe Scottish Rites. Mr. Dowdy coached Dixie Boys Baseball for over 19 years, where he touched many young mens lives. He attended Walnut Grove Methodist Church. Mr. Dowdy was preceded in death by parents, Earl Dowdy and Maude Dowdy, a grandson, Greg Milford; brothers, Eugene Dowdy and Vernon Dowdy. Mr. Dowdy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine Crowell Dowdy; son, Gary Dowdy; daughter, Belinda Dowdy Milford; grandchildren, Gary Dowdy II, Shannon Dowdy; sister, Earline Dowdy Thompson; brother, Glen Dowdy; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Charles Dykes, Scott Dowdy, Lyle Dowdy, Jerry Boudreaux, Darrell Owens, and Sonny Day. Honorary pallbearers will be David Craighead and Gary Carter. Visitation is Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
