Funeral services for Teresa Douglas of West Monroe will be held Tuesday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at Ouachita Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Hensley and Rev. Waylon McCormick officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in El Dorado AR under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Teresa, known as Nana to her eight grandchildren and Aunt Toe to her many nieces and nephews, died unexpectedly at her home on July 23 after a lengthy battle with Lupus and heart disease. Born the daughter of John Allen and Becky Phelps of Strong, AR, she worked as a secretary for the El Dorado Police Department and Ouachita Baptist Church. After that she worked as a bookkeeper for Sunbelt Fire Protection and Mechanical Systems and Services in Monroe; she was currently employed with Southwest Ouachita Water Works. She was a member of Ouachita Baptist Church of West Monroe. Teresa was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Parker of Smackover AR. After the death of Jimmy she married Rev. Marshall Douglas and was a pastor's wife for 18 years, offering a friendly ear and wise counsel to many through the years. She and her husband ministered at Ouachita Baptist and then First Baptist Church of Jonesville LA. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Douglas of West Monroe; daughter Adrianne DeLancey and husband Josh of West Monroe; her parents, John Allen and Becky Phelps of Strong AR; sisters Louise Saunders of San Marcos TX and Sue Geter and husband Lee Ray of Strong; brother Johnny Phelps and wife Donnie of Strong; step-daughters Mary Katherine Long and husband Dyun of Magnolia AR and Patti Reed and husband Jason of El Dorado; and eight grandchildren, Jared, Jimmy and Jeana DeLancey of West Monroe, Alyssa and Jack Long of Magnolia, and Griffin, Gage and Grace Reed of El Dorado. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, July 25. Pallbearers will be Ray Anding, Phillip Geter, DeWayne Kelly, Matt Mills, Tony Munholland and John David Phelps.
