Funeral services for Sylvia Louise Myers will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Luna Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Joel Brackett officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. The interment will be held following the service at Luna Assembly of God Cemetery under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Sylvia was born July 29, 1939 in Downsville, LA and passed away April 23, 2023 at home surrounded by her family, singing and praising God, and loving on her until she left her earthly body; just the way she would have wanted. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Cotman and Della Poston Jordan, a sister Brenda Wheat and eight other siblings. Sylvia was a faithful member of Luna Assembly of God Church and when she could no longer attend in person it brought her joy to watch online. She was a true example of everything that a wife and mother should be. She devoted her life to caring for her husband and family. She especially loved her role as Mamaw and nothing brought her greater joy than spoiling her grandkids. Even though she was bedridden for several years, she never got down or depressed. The joy of the Lord was truly her strength until the very end.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Brinkley Myers, three children, Leonard Myers (Dolly), Richard “Duck” Myers, and Julie Masters (Brian), sister, Audrey Payton; four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Wheat, Patrick Payton, Randy Evans, Joey Myers, Reuben Campbell and Charlie Hodge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Campbell and John Wheat.
Special thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, Joyce, Natalie, Julia, Christiana and Patti for their care of Sylvia during her time of need.
