Memorial services for Sue Jones Cooper, 83 , of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 18, 2011 at North Monroe Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. David Worthington and Rev. Jay George will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Lamy Lane, Monroe, LA. Mrs. Cooper was born on September 16, 1927 in Smackover, Arkansas and passed away on September 15, 2011 at The Oaks in Monroe, LA. She was a member of North Monroe Baptist Church. She loved to study and read her Bible and wrote journals for her grandchildren. Sue loved being outdoors, gardening, and growing flowers. She was very talented in all handicrafts; piecing quilts and quilting, having made a quilt for each family member; made beautiful dolls for her daughter's collection and crocheting. She was a very devoted mother and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Cooper worked in the medical field as a Registered Nurse and Medical Record Technician for 40 years. Mrs. Cooper graduated in 1948 as a Registered Nurse through the St. Francis Cadet Nurse Corp. She received her BS from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri in 1982 in Health Information Management. She was also an accredited Medical Records Technician ART. Sue retired from St. Francis Medical Center in 1992. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her children; Kathy Strong Smith and Frank Davis and wife, Patty; three grandsons, Brandon Strong, and wife, Rebecca, Jason Munz and fiancé Erin, Jeremy Davis and wife, Kelli; two adored great grandsons; Cannon and Cross Strong; one sister and two brothers; a very special niece, Kathy Sue Pace who offered special care until her passing, and many nieces and nephews; her two adored pets, Abby and Tugger. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Marshall Leary deceased, Dr. Frank Weinholdt, Dr. Richard O'Donovon, Dr. Brian Krier, Dr. Ronald Koepke, The Oaks and Eden Place for their special care and special thanks to Dorothy, Janice, LeaAnn, and Vanetta for their kindness and devoted care of our mother, and Hospice Compassus. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes, The Alzheimer's Association and North Monroe Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane in Monroe, LA.
