Mrs. Shirley Lunsford, age 78, of Dubach, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Northern LA Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Love is not an adequate word to describe the feelings that each of her family members have for her. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a real blessing to anyone fortunate enough to cross paths with her.The manner in which she lived her life did not warrant media attention, but every day, she was Queen for a Day to her family. Baptist by faith, she began her walk with her Savior at Corinth Baptist Church, Hico, LA, which was also her birthplace.Graduating from Ruston High School in 1958 and marrying that same year, she held various jobs for the first few years, but then began a career in banking with Ruston State Bank and culminating with First Guaranty Bank, where she retired.Being a major part of her family lives was her richest blessing, but she also enjoyed her frequent trips to Rolling Hills Ministries.She was preceded in death by her mother, Velda Roberts, and father, Lindon H. Davis. Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Friday, April 13^th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Her services are scheduled for Saturday, April 14^th at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mineral Springs Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be David Alexander, Chris Davis, Brian Davis, Marty Davis, Randall Davis, and Adam Chellette.Her survivors are many. They include her husband of 60 years (they said it wouldnt last), Richard Lunsford; daughter, Sandy Shambro (Don); son, Steve (Jane); grandchildren: David Alexander, Tyler Shambro, Jeremy Lunsford, and Lindsay Lunsford; great-grandchildren: Gracie Alexander, Kayden Alexander, twins Jace and BreLeigh Alexander, Teagan Shambro, Lillie Sanchez, Camellia Henry, Violet Henry; brothers: Billy R. Davis (J-Nell), John C. Roberts (Karen), Randy Davis (Patti), Randall Davis (Glynna), Marty Davis (Lane); sisters: Sharon Villarreal, Karen Audirsch (David), Deborah Butler (Chris), and Kathy Ponthieux (Roland).In lieu of flowers the family requests any planned memorials be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Donor choice.Online condolences can be made at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com.
