Nikki , Sammie, Pete, Chloie, I’m so sorry about Shayne. I am without words. There are so many wonderful times with all of you. I don’t know anyone that knew him that isn’t broken-hearted . Memory : I remember at yours and Pete’s Wedding. Shayne sat with us at the reception . He was holding Tripp for us and Tripp vomited on him. He was so sweet about it. Here he was dressed for the wedding wearing a rented suit. He was such a polite young man. He took off the jacket and I washed it off in the sink. I told him I’d get it cleaned. You don’t have to do that, Ms. Chris. I was appalled. I felt terrrible. He stayed with us and kept Tripp busy. Such a nice guy! He stayed that way. He will definitely be missed. We are all broken up. We love you all. Chris and family

I’m deeply saddened to hear about Shayne’s passing. He was a wonderful young man. He was always very polite and well mannered. He had a huge impact on my daughters (Sarah Lewis) life and I believe she is a better person for knowing and loving him. I know he will be deeply missed by many.May God bless and comfort you and your family during this time of grief. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Kim

My fondest memory of Shayne is when he came with his mom to visit after my accident and even though I was quite horrible to look at, Shayne came and sat with me and watched TV. He then asked, “Mr. Mike, are you in pain?” I responded, “Yes, but I will be OK.” He just looked and then asked, “Can I pray for you?” I was so touched by this simple conversation and request from such a young little man. Though I couldn’t cry then, I have shed some tears now. Our hearts and prayers go out to Nikki, Pete, Ms. Sammie, and the rest of the family.

I have the sweetest memory of Shayne. I would usually be one of the last few people leaving the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church sanctuary after Sunday morning services. Several years ago, I walked toward the door and it opened suddenly, though I had not yet reached it. Shayne had seen me coming and opened the door from the outside. He was perched on the handrail just outside the door, and he smiled sweetly as I went through the doorway. I asked if he was an official greeter, and he said quietly, "No, ma'am." I saw him there several times and I called him by name. He appeared to be pleased to be a true gentleman, to have me remember his name and stop to talk to him. He became my "backdoor angel," my final sweet goodbye after a good service.

I had a class with Shayne and he made the whole class laugh every day. for April fools he pretended to faint to try to fool my teacher; she figured it out because he still had a smirk on his face when he *fainted*. He'll be greatly missed
