Shari passed away from her earthly home on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 60 years old. Shari is survived by her beloved son, Kris Schroeder and his fiancée, Dulce Reyes, and her “future” grandsons, Javier and Joel Gomez; her loving partner of 10 years, Terry Searcy; her mother, Margaret Callender; and her brothers, Jimmy Callender and his wife, Nadrid and Robert Callender and his wife, Anne; and her sisters, Kim Myers Daly and Cat Whitaker; and a sister-in-law, Cindy Myers; her nieces and nephews, Leslie Baldi, Laura Baldi, Jonna Hernandez, Katherine Daly, Haley Harvey, Avery Callender, Winfield Callender, Curtis Myers, Jenny Myers, Walter Myers, Clint Arnold, Cory Arnold and Caris Rose Callender.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Emory; her father, David Dwain Myers; and brother, David Myers.
After many years of grieving the loss of Ken, Shari opened her heart to Terry Searcy, her partner as well as his two daughters, Allison and Brandi Searcy for the last 10 years. Shari loved Allison and Brandi like her very own daughters. Terry opened Shari up to many incredible adventures including annual trips to Hot Springs, Arkansas on his motorcycle. He also convinced her to trade in her BAMA hat for LSU gear. In turn, she shared her love for gardening, landscape, and interior design.
Though Shari faced heartbreak throughout her lifetime, she always found happiness in her canine friends. After the passing of her husband, Shari began to donate her volunteer efforts toward the rescue and well-being of animals. She was a member of LSART (Louisiana State Animal Response Team) and two national response groups (RedRover, formally United Animal Nations, and American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). She was part of the initiation of a local response team, known as Ouachita Community Animal Response Team, where she held office as Treasurer.
Shari was very loyal to her work with Electronic and Communications (TEC), where she was an accountant for 30 years.
One could not speak to Shari and not know the love she had for her family, especially her son, Kris. She was generous, open, and supportive to anyone in need and will be deeply missed.
If you would like to honor Shari with a donation, please consider donating at the local level to support the veterinary medical care of the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter. Donations can be sent to Cooper Veterinary Hospital with a note that the donation is for the care of animals from the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter. At the state level Shari was an active member of the Louisiana State Animal Response Team (LSART), and at the national level, Shari responded with Red Rover and ASPCA. Donations to any of these organizations would be a great way to honor Shari’s memory.
