Scott Martin, 54, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in West Monroe, Louisiana. Scott was born on November 13, 1970, in Delhi, Louisiana. Scott grew up in Oak Grove, Louisiana, attended Oak Grove High School, and excelled in football, baseball, and basketball. Scott also played football at Northeast Louisiana University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science and his Doctorate of Pharmacy. Scott enjoyed hunting, golfing, and cooking. Most importantly, Scott was a faithful servant of our Lord, a loving father and grandfather, and a devoted husband.
Scott was an integral member of Harvest Assembly of God. Many of his passions centered in and around his church and church family. Scott spent many nights immersed in the Word preparing for the “Knots and Have Knots” bible study he led on Wednesday nights. He was referred to as “Pastor Scott” by many. Scott was the beloved father of Kara and Zach, and he continuously supported them in all their endeavors. He shared a love of sports with Zach and spent many years traveling to watch him play baseball and football. He also supported Kara’s high school band career and proudly attended her performances at Rebel Stadium on Friday nights. Scott adored his granddaughter, Evie, and found great joy in being her Papa. Scott married his sweetheart, Monya Ford, on July 17, 2013, surrounded by friends and family. Scott and Monya cherished one another (and their precious dog, Bentleigh) each and every day. Scott and Monya lit up every room they entered with their love and laughter.
Scott is survived by his wife, Monya Martin; son Zachary Martin of West Monroe, LA; daughter Kara Salmon (John Thomas) of Helena, AL; granddaughter Evie Salmon; parents George William “Dub” and Shirley Martin of Oak Grove, LA; brothers Tim Martin (Lora) of Jasper, TN and Jason Martin of Shreveport, LA; mother-in-law Ruthie Ford of West Monroe, LA; sisters-in-law NaTanya Butler (Randy) of Calhoun, LA and Tracy Cumming (Will) of Ball, LA; nieces and nephews Dillon Martin, Kali Trichell, Addison Martin, Brianna Martin, Ashton Martin, Mackenzie Luneau, Rebekah Staples, Caleb Butler, Joshua Butler, Meghan Cumming, Daniel Butler, and Macy Cumming; and Mercy Grace, a little girl who shared a special bond with Scott and looked to him as a father figure. Scott was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Ford of West Monroe, LA; grandparents Leonard and Miriam Jackson of Oak Grove, LA and Jesse and Lamanda Martin of Fiske Union, LA.
Memorial services for Scott will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Harvest Assembly of God Church, 100 Ole Highway 15, West Monroe. Bro. Bill Bearden and Bro. Gary Sapp will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:00 A.M. until time of service.
