Funeral services for Samuel Moses Taylor III, 57, of Shreveport, LA formerly of Oak Ridge, LA will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Interment will follow at Alexandria #1Cemetery, Oak Ridge, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.Samuel Moses Taylor III Sonny was born on January 16, 1957 in Mer Rouge, LA to Samuel Moses Taylor Jr. and Lucinda Jones Taylor of Oak Ridge, LA. He went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Christus Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, LA.He confessed Christ at an early age at Shady Grove Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Carr. He later united with True Vine Baptist Church where Johnny Frank Givens was the pastor. Shortly after graduating from high school Samuel enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served 6 years overseas, specializing in military intelligence and electronic warfare. Upon his discharge and return back to the states he moved to Shreveport, LA and served faithfully on the Shreveport Police Department until his retirement in 2012. He remained in Shreveport until his death. Samuel was preceded in death by his father, grandmothers and grandfathers. He leaves to remember his life 3 children; Samuel LaDaryl Coleman and wife Sonja of Bastrop, LA, Khadijah Taylor and Khanoreya Taylor, both of Shreveport; mother of his daughters Sharon Elie of Shreveport, LA; his mother, Lucinda Jones Taylor of Oak Ridge, LA; ten siblings; Margaret Warren (Abe) of St. Joseph, LA, Minister Fannie Williams (James) of Monroe, LA, Alma Holland (James) of Columbus, GA, Minister Joann Young (Robert) of Bastrop, LA, Shirley Young (Leroy) of Bastrop, LA, Mark Taylor of Oak Ridge, LA, Eric Taylor of Oak Ridge, LA, Kennie Taylor (Alexandra) of Killeen, TX, Angela Taylor of Evans, GA, and Christina Wiley (Finton) of West Monroe, LA; 4 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.Visitation will be held Friday August 8, 2014 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.
