A memorial service for Samuel Clayton Hill, 64, will be at 2 PM Sunday, July 8 at First United Methodist Church in Monroe. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Stafford. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe. Sam was born in Monroe, LA on June 1, 1948 to Fred Marzelle Hill, Sr. and Dorothy Taylor Hill. He passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at his home in Monroe. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, his daughters Carmen Hill Eberts of Monroe; Meagan Paige Hill of Ruston; Samantha Ann Hill of West Monroe; his son Craig Duane Hill of Shreveport; and his grandchildren, Alex-Anne and Isabella Shea Eberts and Caleb James Hill. He is also survived by his brothers, Fred Marzelle Hill, Jr. and wife Pam; Danny T. Hill and wife Judy all of Monroe. He was “Uncle Sam” to many special nieces and nephews and is survived by many more aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Sam graduated from Ouachita High School and attended Louisiana Tech University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma. As a service technician, Sam worked most of his career in the restaurant and commercial equipment service business. Sam was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved taking road trips with his riding “buddies.” As a third generation member of First United Methodist Church, Sam regularly attended the contemporary services and continues to leave a legacy of Christian faith and worship. He lived life to the fullest, cared deeply for others and never met a stranger. Sam was passionate about this family and friends. His light hearted spirit, warm smile and jovial bantering will be missed by all. Pallbearers are Jeff Hill, Stevie Hill, Shane Gregory, Kevin Smith, James Maxwell, Danny Ellis, Bobby Wilder, and Jimmy Hickey and honorary pallbearer Jimmy “JY” Youngblood.
