Funeral services for Ruth Chapman Bishop will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, with Bro. Danny McIlveene officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery, Calhoun, LA.
Our Momma, Ruth June Chapman Bishop, was born in Calhoun, LA on June 19, 1925. She passed from this life to meet with Daddy on February 25, 2021, in Shreveport, LA. She was 95 years old.
She is survived by daughter, Sammie Bishop Beach, and her husband Charles of Rocky Branch; daughter, Kathy Jane Hanson, and her husband Henry of West Monroe; and her son, David Bishop of West Monroe. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Mike Auttonberry, Kandie McManus, Tammy Perkins, Hank Hanson, Zach Hanson, and Heather Hanson; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; her brothers, Ray Chapman of Calhoun, and Edward Chapman of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Momma was preceded in death by our Daddy, Carlvin T. “Sam” Bishop; her parents, Oscar and Lillie Chapman; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters. Momma recently lost her last sister-in-law, Trudy Bishop.
Our Momma was the very best at everything she attempted to do. She was a gifted beautician, outliving all of her clients, who were always more beautiful leaving than they were coming in! She was a beautiful seamstress, having an eye for style and color. Her yard was always full of colorful flowers and shrubs. Momma’s cooking was second to none, whether it was ribs on the grill or her peas and cornbread – and her chicken and dressing was absolutely the best! She will be loved and will be missed beyond comprehension. Our Momma will always be in our hearts and in our minds.
Our deepest appreciation goes to Kindred at Home and the Critical Care and Neurology doctors and nurses at Ochsner LSU Shreveport for the care of our dear Momma.
Pallbearers will be Mike Auttonberry, Hank Hanson, Heath Hanson, Wyatt Perkins, Kregg Roy, and Mike Chapman.
Masks are required at the funeral please.
