Ken Harris left a message on December 19, 2018:
I knew Russ from my days at NASA living in Houston in the early 1990s. I recently found his name on this funeral site and was deeply saddened to hear about his death. I do not know if Russ spoke of me to his family very much but he was a good person and a good friend to me. When I was laid off my job in 1993 I moved to Florida and we did not speak very much. I was looking for him on Google but unfortunately I discovered this site and his picture. My condolences go out to his entire family. He will be deeply missed. Thanks, Ken Harris

Liesl Moers Burks left a message on November 21, 2011:
Russell was married to my mother for the latter half of my childhood years, and we weathered some storms side-by-side, even if not always together. He used to bring home treasures from NASA photos and memorabilia related to the space program and the astronauts. He also let me deejay his small but actually on the air radio station, and preserved a few audio files of baby-voiced me saying "This is KVTW on your radio dial!" He was a good friend to many, and like others have posted, will be missed for years to come. All our sympathies to his extended family, and I hope these posted memories provide some comfort.

We loved Russell very much. He will be missed more than you know. Both Mary and Jon were favorite friends of Russell. He provided us with many of his music collection CDs. He lived God's way and built character focussed on perfection. May God wrap his arms around you and give you comfort for your loss.
