I'm so sorry for the loss of Mrs. Barker. I have such wonderful memories of her as my music teacher. All that I know about singing and song I learned from her. From my first years at Hico Elementary to my graduation at Dubach High School, Mrs. Barker was always there. I am very grateful to her for instilling a love of singing in me. What a beautiful legacy she leaves..

I was so saddened to learn of Ruby Nell's passing. She and Dr. Hal were one of the first families to welcome me and my family to Grace Methodist. We sat on the pew close to Dr Hal and Ruby Nell would be singing in the choir. Dr. Hal loved to hear her sing! He would tell us so every so often! Ruby Nell was a special lady and there was never a time that I can remember that she wasn't laughing and smiling. We sat right behind her and Dr. Hal at the Tech Women's basketball games for years. I always enjoyed talking with them about each year's team and who we felt was the next new Star of the team. Tonight, my husband and I went to the Lady Techster's game and I have to say it just wasn't the same without seeing her sitting in the row below us. She was a precious Southern Lady who married a gallant Southern gentleman. We have definitely been blessed by them being in our lives and while we will miss them both in our Grace family we can smile knowing they are back together again in a wonderful place and Ruby Nell is front row in God's angelic choir. Our many sympathies to you all as you go forward in your lives and particularly as you go through the holiday season.

To the Barker family, I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. She was a great lady, and a very patient lady. She taught me piano lessons for several years. I was privileged to know her and learn from her. I imagine she is keeping heaven filled with beautiful music.
