Interment will follow at Hall Cemetery Rhymes, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Ruby passed away July 2, 2013 after a long hard battle with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gladys Neal, a sister, Delores Southern and grandson Bobby Moore. “Aunt” Ruby as she was known to most was born August 15, 1938 in the little town of Energy, Mississippi. After meeting the love of her life she moved to Louisiana and raised not only her family, but half the kids on Moore Road as well. Many of us were kept out of trouble by going to Aunt Ruby and Uncle John's to play ball on the weekend. In 1980 she and John would move to Luna, where she would help nurture another generation with a spirit of kindness and determination. She was loved by all who knew her. After John's retirement and making sure all of her children graduated from high school, she went to work. She worked 5 years as floral manager for Michael's and 5 years as art manager for Hobby Lobby. After finally retiring to the river bank, she lived life to the fullest with the family and grandkids. Not one to turn anybody away, her motto was, “If you make it past the mailbox, you're family.” Ruby is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Wesley Moore, her children Mike Moore and wife Marcia of West Monroe, Lisa Brinson and husband Gary of Columbia, Sheri Piercy and husband Mike of Luna, Johnna Utzman and husband Steve of Eros, Larry Moore and wife Carol of West Monroe and Dale and wife Marcy Moore of Marion, Oregon; sisters, Valerie Smith, Inez Rhodes, and Imelda Powell of Quitman, Mississippi, Janice Guin of Fayette, Alabama and brother, James Neal of Gila Bend, Arizona; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Glenn Moore, Dillon Piercy, Destin Piercy, Todd Thompson, Wayne Cook and LeRoy Piercy. Honorary pallbearers will be deputies of Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office. A special thanks to her caregivers Susanne, Shannon, and Gail of Louisiana Hospice. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
