Ruby Kathleen Best Conville was born on May 14, 1926 in the Bienville Parish community of Liberty Hill to Joe Cephus and Nancy Elizabeth Mathews Best. At the age of 12, Kathleen professed Jesus Christ as her Savior, and she went to be with Him on August 5, 2016 in Ruston, LA. At the age of two, Kathleen moved with her family to Simsboro, LA where she lived and attended school. A 1942 graduate of Simsboro High School, Kathleen was a proud alumnus and became a founding member of the SHS Alumni Association.On June 13, 1942, Kathleen married the love of her life Bobby James Conville. After Bobby military service, they made their home in Simsboro where they reared their family. As a life-long member of First Baptist Church Simsboro, Kathleen attended as long as her health permitted. During the church 125th Anniversary Celebration, she was honored for having been a Simsboro First Baptist Church member for the longest length of time. She served her church as a deacon wife and was an active member of WMU, Laura Strain Sunday School and FBC Choir. Kathleen worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk and as acting postmaster. She retired after 30 years of service.Kathleen and Bobby were dedicated supporters of the Lady Techsters Basketball team for many years. She especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren as they participated in church, school and sports activities. Conville Camp was a very special time where Kathleen grandchildren visited for memorable sleepovers. Kathleen was a kind and compassionate person who loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her family with all her heart. Her beautiful smile was her trademark. Preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Bobby James Conville, Kathleen is survived by her son: Bobby (Carolyn) Conville; daughters: Nancy (Rick) Giesse and Kathy (Bill) Sims, and special daughter, Loralu James Conville.Kathleen was Nannie to 8 grandchildren: Scott (Caroline) Conville, Todd Houck, Greg (Christine) Sims, Gabe Conville, Drew (Jessica) Sims, Brooke Sims-Langford, Camille (Adam) Jennings, and Michael (Katie) Giesse and 13 great grandchildren: Caleb and Cade Conville; Emma, Henry, and Matthew Sims; Case and Luke Sims; Baker Langford; Henry, Elliot, Colin, and Lucy Jennings; and Ruby Giesse.Funeral services will be held on August 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM at Simsboro First Baptist. Dr. Jason Cole and Dr. Wilton Wall will officiate. Burial will follow in the Simsboro City Cemetery, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.Pall bearers will be Curtis Dowling, Michael Giesse, Greg Sims, Drew Sims, Gene Smith, and Ronnie Vail. Honorary pall bearers will be Keith Canterbury, Gabe Conville, Scott Conville, Todd Houck, and James Odom. Kathleen family would like to give special thanks to the Ruston Nursing & Rehab Pavilion Staff; to sitters Kay Lowe, Whitney Burns, and Chiquita Jones; to Felicia of Angel Care and to Professional Hospice Services for the loving care given to her.
