Funeral services for Ronald Alan Ragsdale will be at 10 AM, Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Harvest Assembly of God in West Monroe with Doctors John and Vivian Nocera and Roma Kidd officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. On March 21, 1965, God gave a gift to Jim and Ruth Ragsdale and they named him Ronald Alan Ragsdale. For 51 years they enjoyed the humor and sincerity of their son. On January 23, 2017, God decided that his time on earth was over and promoted him to Heaven to be with his special sister Wendy. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Earl and Iola Rials and paternal grandparents Al and Sybil Ragsdale and sister Wendy Ragsdale who loved her big brother very much. He is survived by his mom and dad, Jim and Ruth Ragsdale, his sister Sherrie House and husband Will, his sister Jennia Adams and husband Keith, nieces Rebecca Adams Jones, Jackie House, Sarah Adams and Savannah House and nephew Isaiah Adams.During his lifetime he brightened the life of everyone he touched. He had such a good heart and was always ready to give someone a hug.Ronnie was also a very good worker. He paved the way in our community for the developmentally challenged to be gainfully employed in public jobs. He was the first to do so, with the support of ARCO of Monroe. He worked for over 10 years at Wendy's then over 9 years at Glenwood Hospital in the cafeteria. His supervisors would quite often say they wished all their employees could be as dedicated as Ronnie was.Ronnie loved sports, especially football. He didn't seem to have a favorite team but he really liked LSU and Alabama which provided some interesting conflict at times. He enjoyed going to NLU/ULM football games and cheering for his team. He loved playing Dixie Diehard baseball and was able to do that for several years. He loved God and loved church, especially the praise and worship songs. For several years he carried his tambourine to church and enjoyed playing it with very good rhythm. Special thanks go to the staff of Glenwood ICU who were so supportive while he was there and to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care of Monroe who made him comfortable in his final days.We are going to miss him but we know that we will see him again someday. And what a reunion that will be!Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.Pall bearers will be Karl Benefield, Nathan Buckles, Erik Crain, Keith Hernandez, Randall Korn, Don Sellers. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to ARCO of Monroe, http://arcomonroe.org.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.comKilpatrick Funeral HomeWest Monroe, LA
