Robert E. Holladay, III Funeral services for Robert E. “Bob” Holladay, III age, 91, of Ruston, LA will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Hilbun officiating the service. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon until service time at the church. Interment will follow in Pines Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Holladay was born February 11, 1921 in Zwolle, LA and passed away on January 6, 2013 in Ruston, LA. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Allen, of Bastrop for 62 years at the time of her death. They were lifelong members of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mr. Holladay's college studies at Louisiana Tech University were interrupted by World War II, but he returned to Tech after the war to finish his degree because of his great love for Louisiana Tech and Ruston. He then received his Master's from University of Texas in Austin. During World War II, he served three years in U. S. Army Air Corps as B-17 and B-29 pilot. In 1947, Robert began teaching accounting at Louisiana Tech until 1953 at which time he began his own Certified Public Accounting practice for 55 years. He retired from his CPA practice at 86 years of age. Mr. Holladay was a member of the Lincoln Parish School Board from 1963 until 1977. He served as president for six years and was a member of the Ruston Lions Club serving as President, Treasurer, and member of the board for eleven years. He thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the community. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Allen Holladay; his parents, Robert E. and Hattie Holladay, Jr.; his step-mom, who he loved and admired dearly, Lucylle C. Holladay; one sister; two brothers; and his son-in-law, Johnny Ray Alexander. He is survived by his children, Dr. Robert E. Holladay, IV and wife Peggy of Shreveport, LA; Tom A. Holladay and wife Sharon of Shreveport, LA; Barbara Holladay Alexander of Linden, TX; grandchildren, Cammie Holladay-Crosby and husband Keith of Portland, OR; Robin Holladay Peak and husband John of Washington, DC; Elizabeth Alexander Ross and husband Brian of San Antonio, TX; Johnny R. Alexander, Jr. of Ft. Worth, TX; great grandchildren, Alex C. Ross and Conner M. Ross of San Antonio, TX; Lucy E. Peak of Washington, DC; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Council on Aging –Meal on Wheels, PO Box 1058, Ruston LA 71273 or charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be Randy Allison, Doug Brewer, Tommy Rogers, John Lane Sheehan, Jackson Thigpen, and Allen Tuten. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Baskin, Johnny Maxwell, and Bill Rogers.
