Ruston-Richard Garrett McGowan, 38, of Ruston, LA passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 after a brief illness. Visitation is from 5-7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Ruston. Funeral service is at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Ruston, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Dr. Chris Craig will officiate with interment to follow at the Garden Of Memories in Minden, LAGarrett received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Marketing from Louisiana Tech University and was Operations Manager at Walpole Tire in Ruston. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ruston.Garrett is survived by his wife, Katie McKinney McGowan of Ruston; his mother, Carolyn Pickett of Minden; father, Rickey McGowan of Minden; grandfather, Kenneth McGowan of Dixie Inn; in-laws: Dane and Mary Ann Golden DAvy of Alexandria; father-in-law, Reggie McKinney of Jonesboro; two Dachshunds: Allie and Maggie McGowan; aunts: Ginger Davis and Frances McGowan of Minden; uncles; Gene Lowe and wife Brenda of Lake Mary, FL, and Jeff McGowan of Dixie Inn; sister-in-law, Christi McKinney Alexander and husband, Daren, and their children, Bridget and Hunter, of Quitman; brother-in-law, Andrew DAvy, and sister-in-law, Jessica DAvy, and children, Cole and Gray DAvy; close friends, Bobby and Margaret Evans of Minden and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.Pallbearers will be Russ Golden, Ray Spoon, Justin Mills, Andrew DAvy, Jeff Tuey, and Gary Golden.The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Holy Angels in Shreveport, (where Garrett niece, Bridget, resides) www.laholyangels.org/donate or to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.Online condolences may be made to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com
