Reverend Ronald Dean Murphy was born to Dr. Lamoine and Carolyn Murphy on June 17, 1940 in St Louis Missouri passed peacefully on June 17, 2024. Ron was the younger of two sons, Jack being his older brother by two and one half years.
Raised in a navy family, Ron found Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 16 in August of 1957 while his father was in Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa.
Upon graduation from Davenport High School, Ron enrolled in the Emmaus Bible College of Oak Park, Illinois. Following graduation, he enrolled in Wright College of Chicago and met Phyllis Loraine True. They married June 13, 1964 in Yountsville, Indiana.
After attending Roosevelt University and graduating from Wright College in 1967, Ron & Phyllis served 9 years with Village Missions, Assistant Pastor of Wesleyan Methodist Church of Oak Park, Illinois, Meadowview Bible Church of Sacramento California, Faith Baptist Church of Citrus Heights, California, and Grace Community Church of Fruita, Colorado. Following 20 years of Pastoral Ministry, he served as Executive Director of the Christian Chiropractors Association for ten years, and concluded his ministry by serving the Baptist Church in St Anne, Illinois for 8 years.
Along with his wife, Phyllis, he visited Israel and several other countries as they enjoyed traveling for Christ’s Gospel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Lamoine and Carolyn Murphy; brother, Jack Murphy; sister-in-law, Barbara True Ford; brother in law, Leal True; brother-in-law, Robert Campbell; sister-in-law Carole True Hedge, and brother-in-law, Michael True.
Ron is survived by wife, Phyllis True Murphy; Sister in law, Phyllis (Jack) Murphy; brother-in-law, Ralph Ford; bother-in-law, Ron Hedge; sister-in-law, Peggy Jo True Campbell; brother-in-law, Russell (Leanne} True; brother-in-law, Thomas (Janice) True; and many nieces, nephews and other cherished family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on June 27, 2024 at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Jonesboro Road in West Monroe, Louisiana. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church.
