Funeral services for Rebecca “Becky” Roy Plunk McCormick, 67, will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 15, 2024, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana. Officiating will be Pastor John Jones. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, Louisiana, under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Becky was born September 6, 1956, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the late Fotch Roy and Alpha Justice Roy. She passed away at Willis-Knighton Medical Center, Shreveport, Louisiana, on July 12, 2024, at the age of 67. In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by her brother, Marshall J. Roy; sisters-in-law, Beth Roy, Connie Roy, Angie Roy, Patsy Roy; nephews, Dino Roy and Caleb Roy.
Becky was a retired caterer. She loved cooking and loved people through her food. Everything was a celebration with food. Becky was a help to all her family even from her hospital bed. She was tough, fun, loud, resilient, and hilarious. When she loved someone she loved hard. Becky was an advocate for the American Diabetes Association and participated in fundraising for them. She was a transplant patient 22 years ago, when she received a kidney and a pancreas. Becky’s diabetes led to all her health problems throughout the rest of her life, but she never gave up. Her husband, James stood by her and took great loving care of her. Becky’s pokeno group that she loved for over 30 years was and will always be Sisterhood. Her group of ladies were Mandy Mayo, Ann Gallien, Sissie Jones, Lisa Murphy, Janet Justice, Debbie Pritchard, Peaches McKnight, Judy McDonald, Amanda Bratton, Mandie Smith, Bailey Hill, Sydney Nichols, and numerous subs. Many of these were a part of our years of beach trips that she enjoyed most of all. When Becky was no longer able to travel it broke her heart.
Becky was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, cousin, and friend. She was abundant in cousins that she loved like a brothers and sisters. Her Aunt Dott was an angel on earth to Becky. Her voice and demeanor was comforting to Becky thru out her life even as she lay dying.
Family left behind to mourn Becky’s passing include her husband, James McCormick; daughters, Mickey Freeman and her husband Harold, Mandy Mayo and her husband Keith, Morgan Chelette and her husband Jesse; son, Jay McCormick. She will also be missed by her sister, Ann Gallien and her husband Kenneth; brothers, Dean Roy and his wife Trish, and Steve Roy; special sister-in-law, Tanya Witchen and her husband Jim. Becky was proud of her grandchildren, Sydney Nichols and husband Devin, Adam Freeman, Blake Mayo, Gentry Freeman as well as her great-granddaughter, Lauren Nichols. There are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that were loved by Becky.
Becky was a Jesus lover and was ready to look upon his face. She was full of zest and zeal for life. Above all Becky was a fighter and she fought to LIVE. And we will forever miss her.
Pallbearers will be: Blake Mayo, Tyler Roy, Devin Nichols, Timothy Andrajack, Johnny Miller, Jacob Snyder.
