Funeral services for Raymond M. Roy will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 10, 2020 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Rev. Brian Rankin will officiate and interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service (1:00 P.M.) at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Raymond was born May 21, 1927 in Homer, Louisiana and passed away on March 5, 2020 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Raymond served proudly as a U.S. Marine Corp Sergeant in WWII. He was a Gideon, a member of the American Legion, a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Hebert, Louisiana and former member of Willow Point Baptist Church in Shreveport, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Raymond was senior bookkeeper at Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant until he began his forty-year career as a State Farm Insurance Agent. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, fishing and hunting, and was a member of the NRA. Raymond was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Roy Evans; parents, Wesley M. Roy and Wilma Gore Roy.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Thomason Roy; son, Robert W. Roy, Sr. and wife Kathy; daughter, Pamela K. Roy; grandchildren, Laurie Roy Hall and husband Jason, Kristen Roy Terry and husband Daniel, Robert W. Roy, Jr. and wife Jessica; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Lea, Kendal, Corbin, McKenzie; great-great-grandchildren, Emily and twins (on the way); many nieces and nephews that he loved like his own; many cherished extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Hall, Jason Hall, Randy Reynolds, Robert W. “Bubba” Roy, Jr., Joel Strickland, and Daniel Terry.
