Randall Bryant Randy Prewitt, former long-time news anchor and co-host of the KNOE Channel 8 Good Morning Ark-La-Miss news and morning show, passed from this life November 15, 2019, after a lengthy illness. Randy is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Debbie Fox Prewitt; sons, Scott Prewitt and wife Erin, David Tate, Ben Tate; sister, Debbie Prewitt Thurman and husband Alvin; granddaughters, Katlyn Prewitt, Naelyn Prewitt and Kathryn Tate; grandsons, Cade Prewitt and Eli Norman; great granddaughter, Amelia Keene; many other cherished nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Rebecca Prewitt and brother, Dennes Prewitt.Randy was born in Henderson, Kentucky on December 29, 1940, and was reared in Alcoa, Tennessee. He worked as a television news anchor at KNOE television in Monroe, Louisiana, for over 35 years and also spent several years as a news anchor in Las Vegas, Nevada. Randy began his career while still in high school when he began working as radio broadcaster in Morehead, Kentucky where he worked with music legend, Tom T. Hall. After high school, at the age of 18, Randy moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and worked as a radio DJ for WWL. Randy later moved to Knoxville, Tennessee to attend the University of Tennessee, and worked as a radio DJ while living in Knoxville. Randy then landed a position as a radio DJ at WPLO in Atlanta, Georgia, where he interviewed music legends Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Ray Stephens, Dolly Parton and many more great artists. Randy was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1963 where he served three years as a radio broadcaster, with part of his service time spent in Korea.Randy loved to cook, eat good Louisiana food and wrote several cookbooks. He was an avid ham radio operator since the age of 15. Randy was also a die-hard LSU fan‚ one of his last wishes was to see LSU beat Alabama, and he got that wish! Geaux Tigers! Randy was known and loved by so many and will be greatly missed.Funeral services for Randy will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 21, 2019 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home ~ Monroe. Interment will follow at the Northeast Louisiana Veteran Cemetery in Rayville.
