Funeral services for Phillip Prestridge, 83, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, Louisiana. Rev. Jim Wolfe will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, West Monroe, Louisiana, under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from Noon till time of service, Sunday, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Phillip is preceded in death by his parents LaPearl and Quin Prestridge; sisters, Bobby Jean Prestridge, Patsy Aikens, Libby Prestridge; daughter, Helen; grandson, Korey Albritton; and brothers-in-law, Martin Brister and Sonny Aikens.
Phillip is survived by Zena, wife of 60 years; children, Bob (Noelle) of West Monroe, Louisiana, Debbie (Kelly) of Monte Vista, Colorado, Ray (Shawn) of LaVernia, Texas; sister, Betty Brister of McComb, Mississippi; grandchildren, Crystal Maxwell (Hank) of Monte Vista, Colorado, Kayla Albritton of West Monroe, Louisiana, Tyler Prestridge (Melissa) of Houston, Texas, Emily Morris (Orie) of Monroe, Louisiana, Holden Prestridge of Arlington, Texas; great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Leia, Evie, Ryleigh, Jackson, Oliver, and George; many nieces and nephews; and life long friends, Clayton Marshall and Carl Foster.
Phillip was born in the small community of Mars Hill, Amite County, Mississippi. As a child, moved to Belzoni, Mississippi with family. Phillip graduated from Belzoni High School where he played football, then attended Morehead State College in Morehead, Mississippi. During his adult life in Mississippi, he worked for the Town of Belzoni, the Federal Compress and Warehouse and served in the Dixie Division of the Mississippi Army National Guard. He married Zena Ray in 1964, and they had four children. Phillip moved his new family to West Monroe, Louisiana, when he was hired by the late Toby Bancroft, Sr to be the Shipping and Receiving Manager for Bancroft Bag, Inc. in West Monroe. Phillip worked for Bancroft Bag for 21 years. Following his retirement, he worked for Coating and Laminating and Monroe Warehouse, then in security for St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Phillip was a member of the Ridge Avenue Baptist Church.
