Patsy grew up in Waterproof, LA and was a graduate of Waterproof High School. After graduating, she studied Music at Louisiana College before transferring to Centenary College and receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Music. She would later attend Northeast Louisiana University (ULM) and receive her Masters in Music.
Patsy taught school for many years and was an accomplished pianist and organist. She served in that capacity for several churches over the years. She also taught piano to so many throughout the region and still played on a regular basis.
Though music was very important to her, she was known by most as being the owner of The Emporium on Trenton Street in downtown West Monroe for over 30 years. She was often seen walking up and down Trenton Street making sure everything was neat and orderly while visiting with all the merchants.
Mrs. Edmondson was also an active civic leader. She served on and was involved with many committees and organizations including Antique Alley Merchant’s Association, Keep Louisiana Beautiful, Keep Ouachita Parish Beautiful, Keep West Monroe Beautiful, Historic Preservation Commission and Ouachita River Sweep among others. She was very proud of her community and did all she could to not only promote it, but make it thrive.
Mrs. Edmondson was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe.
Patsy is survived by her son, Eric Edmondson and wife, Gina, a granddaughter, Brooke and a grandson, Grant. She is also survived by twin brothers, Joel Pippen and wife, Carolyn, of Lynchburg, VA. and Jonan Pippen of Pineville, LA. along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces and her best friend, Barbara Caldwell.
