O. Eston Payne, 88, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 in Ruston. Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, officiated by Rev. Jerry Hilbun. Born in Hilly, La., Eston was a resident of Ruston for 49 years. He served his country during World War II, completing 35 missions over Europe in the Army Air Corps. He worked 55 years in the banking industry, starting his career at Dubach State Bank. He worked at Capital Bank and Trust Co. in Baton Rouge before returning to Ruston to serve as president of Lincoln Bank and Trust Co., until his retirement. Eston was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. of Ruston. He served his community as past chairman of the American Red Cross, past president of the Greater Tech Foundation and past president of the Louisiana Tech Tower club in Ruston and past commander of the American Legion in Dubach. Eston was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen Norris Payne; his parents, Ernest and Ruth Payne; and three brothers, Ozzie, Othel and Alva Dick Payne. Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Payne Love and husband Thomas Lewis Love; grandson Thomas Lewis Lew Love and wife Susan McNeely Love; granddaughter Pamela Dawn Love; two great grandchildren Kathleen Love and Thomas Lewis Love III, all of Baton Rouge.
