A celebration of life for Norma Jean Wharton Williamson, 90, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes ~ West Monroe. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 7, 2022 at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes ~ West Monroe.
Norma was born on September 1, 1931 and she left this Earth on February 3, 2022.
A life-long resident of West Monroe, she attended Crosley Elementary School and graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1948, the last class that ended with the 11th grade. At Ouachita, she enjoyed being a Lionette and was active in their theatre department. During high school, she served as a Worthy Advisor in Rainbow Girls. She obtained an associate degree in secretarial science at Northeast Louisiana State College, now ULM. Her working career consisted of serving as secretary and office manager for Monroe Hardware, LTI and area overhead sprinkler companies. She married Elbert Williamson upon his return serving in the Army in Korea on July 8, 1952. Upon the birth of their second child, Dean, she began her career as a homemaker. Norma was active in the PTA at both local and state levels, always an advocate for children and helping those less fortunate. She was an active member of First Methodist Church and later at McGuire Methodist Church, where she served on the building committee for the present building.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Williamson; parents, Milton and Lena Fisher Wharton; brother, William Houston Wharton and infant brother, Milton Fisher Wharton.
Norma is survived by her children, Gloria Tergliafera (Turk) of Florida and Dean Williamson (Rita) of West Monroe, as well as two grandchildren, Chris Tergliafera of Los Angeles and Maria Tergliafera Silvestrin (Claudio) of Spain; twin great-granddaughters, Cora and Blanca Silvestrin.
