Graveside services for Nona Cowan, 97, of Blythewood, South Carolina will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Nona was preceded in death by her parents A.O. Berry and Bertha Melton Berry; husband Fred Cowan, Sr.; children Stanley Muir, James B. Cowan and Freddie Cowan; 3 brothers Ray Berry, Charles Berry, and Carl Berry; 4 sisters Lois Wilkinson, Mary Jo Mason, Bobby Brantley and Sue Berry. Nona was born June 15, 1925 in McKinney, Texas and Nona passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 25 in Blythewood, South Carolina. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Monroe, LA. She loved to crochet, sew, read and spend time with her family and friends. Nona was a member of Pineview Baptist Church in Blythewood, South Carolina and was a member of VFW of Foreign Wars.
Nona is survived by her children Clifford E. “Butch” Muir and wife Madeline and Dotty Singleton and husband Eddie; grandchildren, Kristy Mangrum and Scott, Eddie Singleton and Wendy, Stacie Muir Weaver and Landon, Missy Muir Wene, Chris Miller, Valerie Miller Gele and Carrie Smith; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Numerous nieces and nephews and other family friends.
