Nita Thomas Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Services celebrating the life of Nita Thomas will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, LA. Dr. Greg Hunt will officiate. Remembrances will be given by Hon. Rodney Alexander. The family will greet visitors at the church from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Nita Thomas was a woman of faith and dignified grace. Married for 49 years 10 months to her 1st and only love, she dedicated herself to her husband and children and later grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nita≠s warmth, graciousness and sense of humor are the qualities that earned her many close friends throughout her life and she was always a source of strength to those who knew her. Known for her love of entertaining, Mrs. Thomas frequently hosted her friends, family and neighbors for gatherings that filled her home with conversation and laughter. Holidays were always a special time around her dinner table when children and grandchildren would gather for hours on end sharing stories and laughs. As an advocate for those with special needs, she was committed to the mission of inclusion and acceptance of all God≠s special children. Mrs. Thomas was an active supporter of Louisiana Tech, the school that she and Sam attended and loved. Mrs. Thomas is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Sarah Allen Chapman, and sister, Patricia Chapman Evans and her husband Samuel Madison Thomas, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are children: Patti Harper and husband Jerry of Shreveport, LA, Sam Thomas III of Largo, Florida, Joe Thomas and wife Robin of Monroe, LA and Elizabeth Anne Thomas of Shreveport, LA; niece: Julie Evans Kyte; grandchildren: Sam Thomas IV and wife Michelle of Port Richie Florida, Sarah Thomas of Shreveport, LA, Laura Harper Winters and husband Randy of Arlington, VA, Emily Thomas Kozar and husband Graham of Ruston, LA, Patrick Thomas of Ruston, LA, Jay Harper of Washington, DC, Joseph Thomas of Shreveport, LA; and great grandchildren Sam Thomas V, Harper Elizabeth Winters, Tyler Joseph Thomas.
