June and family, I was so sorry to hear of Nelda's passing. I wish I had had the chance to talk to hear after her operation. I am grateful we were able to talk before she had the operation, never thinking that would be the last time. I think of Nelda all the time and miss our weekly chats. There aren't that many cousins left. Zelma called me after hearing of Nelda's passing from Edwina. Edwina had gotten it from her aunt who had read it in the paper. June I know you understand how close Nelda was to me. I will miss her very much but know we will meet again in heaven. God bless you and the rest of the family. Nelda I love you and miss you. Your loving cousin Lula

Nelda was one of my mom's very good friends from the old neighborhood on North Tenth street in West Monroe. She and my mom kept in touch all through their lives. Mom passed away in 2005 and is buried in West Monroe. All my brothers and sisters were in West Monroe this past weekend to tend the grave of our parents. We are spread all over the country now but manage to get together every couple of years. Mom and I would visit West Monroe often as she aged and one visit she always made was to Nelda's house. She lived just down the street from her brother on Anderson. She was always Mrs. Brister to me. I used to play with Brenda and my brother, Woody played with Stanley Junior. I am so sorry for your loss, she was a special lady.

I am very sorry for your loss. Nelda's smile and sweet disposition will be missed. Her kindness was evident to all she met, and she never really met a stranger. Nelda made you feel like she'd known you all her life. Thanks for the memories...Jennifer
