Irene Haywood Sapp, 95, a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed from this life to Her Heavenly Home on April 20, 2020.
Irene was born in Scott, Georgia on June 25, 1924 to Ruben and Mary Haywood.
Irene was married to Rev. Leonard Sapp for the past 76 years. He pastored churches for over 50 years. They worked in many churches together and she was a vital part of his ministry.
Irene loved to cook (Worlds Best) sew, sing (church), fish, put puzzles together, play scrabble, dominoes and be Minnie Pearl in skits for church programs.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Mary Haywood, 3 brothers, Charlie, Herbert, and Daniel; 5 sisters, Lillie, Bessie, Dinky, Alma and Lois.
Irene is survived by her husband, Leonard Sapp,; daughter Patricia Sapp; son Rev. Gary Sapp (Dee); 2 grandchildren, Nicole Harpe, Renee Flannery (Joey); grandson-in-law, Shae Harpe; 4 great-grandchildren, Brandon Harpe, Haiden Harpe, Riley Flannery and Brooklyn Flannery; niece (like a daughter) Lillian Boatright; and many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Harvest Assembly of God Church (where she was a member) in her memory. All proceeds will go toward a digital sign for the church and will have her name placed on it.
The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice for the wonderful care to Mom, especially her nurse Cindy and aide Tia.
