Funeral services for Alice Faye Turnage Pearson will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 4, 2017 in the Worship Center at First Baptist Church, West Monroe (First West). Rev. Michael Woods, Dr. Mark Fenn and Dr. Woods Watson will officiate. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.Alice was born October 5, 1940 in West Monroe on Wood Street, where the Post Office is now and passed away after a lengthy illness on December 1, 2017 in West Monroe. She was enrolled on the Cradle Roll at First Baptist Church West Monroe, at the age of five months. After living many other places, she and her husband Billy, moved to West Monroe in 1959 to rear their five children. After teaching several years at West Monroe High School, Alice was active at First Baptist Church serving as adult choir president, involved with hand bells, children choir and helping organize the Living Christmas Tree.Among her many hobbies, Alice was extremely proud of earning her Brown Belt in Shotokan Karate, having been taught by Dr. Tom Fields for three years.Alice served on many boards through the years of service as West Monroe Councilperson since 1992 to present. She was on the YMCA Board, West Monroe Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Vice President of Community Affairs, Ouachita Council on Aging/Board of Directors, Green Oaks Detention Center/Operational Board from early 1990 to present and a Patron of the Little Theater of Monroe for 30 years.After retiring as co-owner of Pearson Jewelers with son Darryl, she enjoyed traveling the world. Some areas to which she traveled were Hawaii, Mexico, Paris France, Great Britain, Scotland, Switzerland, Belgium, Puerto Rico and Italy, including singing at the Vatican.Alice was a strong, kind and faithful woman. She was faithful to her God, husband, children, family and friends. Last but not least to the City of West Monroe and all the citizens thereof.Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Pearson; son, Darryl Pearson; parents, J P and Irene Turnage; brother, Will Turnage; brothers-in-law, George Baber and Herbert Evans.Alice is survived by her daughter, Dessie Pearson Thrailkill (Ronnie Shelby); sons, Devery Pearson (Tanya), Robert Pearson (Jessica) and Bill Pearson (Anna); fourteen grandchildren, Amanda Vanalstyne (Charles), Laura Pearson Trahan and (Micah), Nathan Pearson (Ashley Ecker), Nick Pearson, Natalie Pearson, Megan Thrailkill, Tyler Thrailkill, Paige Faulkner (Jackson), Jacob Pearson, Ashley Pearson, Josh Pearson, John Pearson, Emma Kaye Pearson, and Noah Pearson; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Kaye Turnage Cloessner (Carl); sister-in-law, Mary Alice McIntyre; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Nathan Pearson, Nick Pearson, Tyler Thrailkill, Jacob Pearson, Josh Pearson, John Pearson, and Noah Pearson.
