Funeral services for Gerald W. Jerry Smith will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Christ Church. Rev. Tom Lowe and Rev. Otis Lenoir will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.Gerald Jerry Smitty was born on March 23, 1947 in Toccoa, GA and passed away after a brief illness on Friday, December 9, 2016. He was a member and Elder of Christ Church and retired from the Ouachita Parish Fire Department. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Blanche Smith; brothers, Kenneth Smith, Fermer Smith, and Ben Smith.Gerald is survived by his wife, Connie Smith; daughter, Angie Smith; sons, Kirk Smith and wife Cynthia, Jeremy Smith and wife Misty, Patrick Smith and wife Cassie, Kyle Smith and wife Kacie; brother, Russell Smith and wife Caroline of Cumming, GA; sisters, Cynthia McClain and husband Bill of Toccoa, GA, Retha Darnell of Toccoa, GA; sisters-in-law, Aleta Smith of St. Cloud, FL and Joan Smith of Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be John Bray, Barry Smith, David Smith, Jason Saucer, Ed Gonzalez, John Wilhite, and Steve Counts. The Ouachita Parish Fire Department will be honorary pallbearers.Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Christ Church, West Monroe, LA.
