Funeral services for Morris Warnke, age 89, will be held on Saturday May 18, 2013 at St. Patricks Episcopal Church. A resident of West Monroe for the past 7 years and native of New Orleans and Metairie, La. for 82 years, Morris passed away May 14, 2013, at Glenwood Regional Hospital in West Monroe, LA. He served with the United States Coast Guard in WWII as a Fireman. He was a member and past commander in the American Legion Post 397, as well, a Life Member in the VFW. He was employed by Lerner Shops as their Southeast Regional Credit Operations Manager for 22 years before it was relocated to Atlanta. Rather than move the family he engaged with Radio Shack to obtain a franchise in the Metarie area. He ran a successful operation there with numerous awards and achievements earned over twelve years. After that he engaged in an Industrial Supply business with a childhood friend and service buddy, Mr. Hotard as Warren Sales and Supply. In his later years he became involved with opening the American Legion Post 397 and helped grow it and its community of Veterans. His Survivors include his companion and love of the last 12 years, Marie April, daughters Deirdre Cupples and Terri Everett, son Blair Warnke, Kathy. Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews grace the family as well. His was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Kathryn, his sisters Jessie Davenport, Leona Wheeler and his wife of almost 50 years, Lois Clare Thouron. Funeral services will be held at St. Patricks Episcopal Church, 1712 Wellerman Rd. West Monroe at 2:00 PM on Saturday May 18, 2013 In Lieu of Flowers, Morris expressed a desire for contributions to Alzheimer's Foundation of America instead. http://www.alzfdn.org/ContributetoAFA/makeadonation.html
