Services will be held for Montez Gilmore Anderson, 90, of Huntsville, Tex. (formerly of West Monroe, La and Bastrop, La.)at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, La. with interment to follow at Luna Methodist Cemetery. She was born to Abner Jack and Estelle Evans Gilmore on June 5, 1923 in Simsboro, La. and passed away January 21, 2014 in Conroe, Tex.She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Glen Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Julia Defee May, and husband Jim, of Huntsville, Tex.; grandsons Jeffrey May and wife Sandra, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Justin May of Seabrook, Tex., and great-grandson Kainalu May. She is also survived by the children of her husband: Richard Anderson and wife Karen, of Ruston; Darlene Anderson James and husband Rod, of Butner, N.C.; grandchildren, Raine Nielson and husband Andrew, of Katy, Tex.; Casey Anderson, of Ruston; Janna, Bill and Mallory James of Butner, N.C.; and great-grandchildren Ben and Evie Neilson. While living in Bastrop, she was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. After moving to West Monroe she was involved in activities with the Senior Center, including play performances and teaching computer classes. After moving to Huntsville, she enjoyed playing cards twice a week with the girls at Montgomery Meadows. However, she was most passionate about her role as a mother and grandmother. Visitation with be held on Friday, January 24, from 5-7 p.m., also at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
