Funeral services for Monte Parks, 81, of Monroe, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, October 13, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Swartz, La. Brother Jarrett Fix will officiate and interment will follow at Edwards Cemetery in Marion, LA. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service at First Baptist Church, Swartz, LA

Monte was born on February 5, 1941 in Borger, TX and passed away at home on October 9, 2022 in Monroe. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Swartz First Baptist Church.  He was a loyal friend and loved his family.  He especially enjoyed going deep sea fishing with his brother, Paul. He was a loving uncle to his nephews and loved being able to help those around him.  Monte served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was decorated with the Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents, Norvin and Gladys Marie Parks.

He is survived by his brother, Raymond V. Parks and wife Linda; brother, Paul H. Parks; nephews, Andy and wife April, Ray and wife Debbie, James and John and wife Sandy; great nephew, Elijah; and numerous family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be William Sikes, Paul Greely, J.R. Capps, Buckey Tynes, Paul Clark, Jay George, Jerald Simms and David Speir.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Swartz.
