and Glynn Hadskey.
She is survived by: daughter, Paulia Lynn Price and husband, John; their children, Ben and wife Mallory, Halley Kelly and husband Ian, their children Luke, Theo and Sean; daughter, Elizabeth Yvonne St. John and husband Ron; their children, Hillary Reynolds and husband Derek, and Parker St. John; son, Thomas Hadskey Rainer and wife Sallie; their children Tillman and Molly Rainer; sisters, Elizabeth High and Esther Nettles; sisters-in-law, Sara Hadskey, Maxine Hadskey, Dolores Hadskey and Edie Rainer; numerous nieces and nephews.
Wyolene was born on February 7, 1932 in Oldenburg, MS and passed away in Monroe, LA on May 18, 2021. Her father worked for the railroad which allowed her to travel via the train to New Orleans and nearby towns. Her childhood was filled with numerous new towns and schools due to the relocation of her father. World War II was raging during her youth. She had brothers, uncles and other relatives who served. Shortages and the potential loss of loved ones affected how Wyolene lived her life: Take nothing for granted, be frugal and hold your loved ones near. Her most wonderful attribute was making friends with anyone in earshot.
Wyolene attended and lived on campus at Co-Lin Community College. This college was always in her heart and became even more special when her nephew, Ronald Nettles, became President of the school. She finished her education at Northeast Louisiana State College (now ULM) with a Masters in Education. She was an active participant of the DAR organization. Her working career involved starting and operating a kindergarten at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She received Teacher of the Year Award while at Riser Elementary School for 20 years and belonged to the Teachers’ Sorority.
Two of Wyolene’s great passions were art and her religion. She loved the Presbyterian Church and it was their support she leaned upon during life’s challenges. She loved to paint and create beautiful pieces. The art that she truly glowed in was her yard. It was a Monet Painting that Wyolene worked tirelessly to create year round. The colors of the flowers and shrubbery were masterpieces by Wyolene.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the treasures of her life and made her life complete. From the simplest card game to buying a go-cart to building a pool, Grandmother Rainer did it for her kids! She had a great life filled with many wonderful memories. She was loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
