Mildred Marie Nonnie Keith passed away April 27, 2012 in Birmingham, Alabama. Graveside services will be performed 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Mulhearn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Brother Bodie Spicer will officiate. Mrs. Keith was born March 4, 1927, in York, Alabama and then moved to Clarks, Louisiana where she met her future husband, Jimmy, as he played professional baseball after the end of World War II. Mrs. Keith was a long time resident of Monroe, Louisiana before moving to Gonzales, Louisiana with her husband James W. Keith Nonnie, as her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren affectionately called her, was a mother to four boys – William W. Bill, James D. Dick, Michael R. and Dennis E. Keith. After raising her sons she was employed and retired from Northeast Louisiana University ULM where she was assistant manager of the campus bookstore. She spent most of her retirement years enjoying their camp on Lake D'Arbonne near Farmerville, Louisiana. She eventually moved to Gonzales to be near her sons. Mrs. Keith, a member of Ascension Baptist Church, was a long time member of College Place Baptist Church in Monroe. Mrs. Keith was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Keith, her father William W. Rodgers, her mother Vina Rodgers, her brothers William Rodgers, Warren Rodgers, and Lawrence Rodgers, and her sister Kathleen Chavis. Survivors include her sons William W. Karen Keith, Birmingham, Alabama; James D. Beth Keith, Lady Lake, Florida; Michael R. Cindy Keith, Gonzales, Louisiana; and Dennis E. Cathy Keith, Gonzales, Louisiana; her brother Joe Rodgers, West Monroe, Louisiana and her sister Hazel Wallace of Monroe, Louisiana; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family invites friends and family for a visitation Monday, April 30th, 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe located at 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe.
