Mildred Joy Johnson Kennedy Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral services for Mildred Kennedy a retired bookkeeper, 79, of Monroe, LA will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Concord Methodist Church of Chatham, LA with Rev. Woody Rimes officiating. Interment to follow at Concord Church Cemetery, Chatham, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mrs. Kennedy was born August 22, 1927 to the union of Doris Mae and Monroe Guice Johnson in Winnsboro, LA. She passed away December 8, 2006 in Monroe, LA at home with her Family. Mrs. Kennedy is preceded in death by her husband H.H. "Punkin" Kennedy, son Thomas Monroe "Tommy" Kennedy, parents, brothers Aubrey Peyton Johnson and Bobbie Monroe Johnson, niece Rebekah Ferguson. Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her daughters Janice Waldrop and husband David of Monroe, Stella Hemphill and her husband Steven of West Monroe, son James David Kennedy and wife LaNan of Forrest City, AR, sister Mary Louise Ferguson and husband Bill of Shreveport, brother Darrell L. Johnson and special sister-in-law Mary of Monroe, LA, Special friend and "heart" daughter Kay Booth and husband George of West Monroe. Grandchildren Michael Waldrop, Windie Hendrix and husband Keith, Sammantha Wilhite and husband Joey, Gayle Lowrey and husband Kevin, James David Kennedy, Jr., Peyton and Spencer Hemphill, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Harry Ferguson, Wayne Johnson, Devone Kennedy, Roy Lynn Kennedy, Henry "Flip" McDonald and Terry Duckett. Honorary Pallbearers will be B.A. Walker, Mike Shepherd, R.L. Johnson, Carlton Smith, George S. Booth and grandsons. The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the many wonderful people who have sustained her in her courageous battle United Home Health, especially Robert Andrea and Elizabeth; Patient's Choice Hospice, Debbie Suzanne, and Reverend Don Lanier; Forest Glade Church family Homemakers Sunday School Class; and Leesa Cooper of the News Star; Ouachita Council on Aging, Willie Mae and Katie Allen; dear friend Bobbie McMullen. Isaiah 40:31, "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Visitation will be Saturday, December 9, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA and Sunday, 1:00 PM to service time at Concord Methodist Church at Chatham.
