Funeral services for Mildred Griffin McGowen, 89, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday March 11, 2012 with Rev. Larry Hibbard officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mrs. McGowen was born on December 27, 1922 in Pioneer, LA and passed away on March 8, 2012 in Tyler, TX. She was a retired Ouachita Parish School Teacher for 30 years. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1966 and by 6 brothers and a sister. She is survived by her sons: Jerry McGowen and wife, Pat and Robert McGowen and wife, Janice; grandchildren: Brandi Lambert, Lori Foster, Blake McGowen, Margaret Davis, and Robert McGowen, JR; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a sister: Willie Mae White; and a number of nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mike Mason. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Memorials may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church, Oliver Road, Monroe, LA.
