Thank you everyone for your kind words about my dad. He was the best dad a daughter could ever wish for. He taught me so many important life lessons one I ll always cherish "you can never have too many friends" and I never heard him say a negative thing about anyone! What a great example. I'll miss him terribly but know he's happy now & got his wish to be in heaven with Moma. I love you Daddy and can't wait to see you again one day

Courtney, Russell , Jennifer and Marcia. Your Dad gave me and 2 other 15 year old our first "real job" at the mill in Bernice. I'm not sure who talked him into it, but he was willing to give us a chance as he knew it would be only a summer job! I'm sure he taught us more about hard work than we had effect on productivity at the mill. The first morning he asked as we stood there, " Who has a Chauffeur license"? One hand went up, Mr. Reed said "Good, get that wheel barrow and drive it up to the planner"! Next was, "Who can run a front end loader , another hand went up, " Good he said, take this shovel and load that sawdust on the conveyor"! He then looked at me and said , " Gillum, walk with me, we are going to the Green Chain"! The rest was a total education on hard work and example on why to stay in school, I will never forget that summer or his kindness!
