Michael Wesley O'Banion, Sr. of Ruston, Louisiana was born on February 16, 1947 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of Lee J. and Mildred K. OBanion. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston, Louisiana. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School, class of 1966. He then graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas with a BSBA. Mike worked several years as a poultry salesman and manager for Valmac Industries, Inc. in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Nacogdoches, Texas. He was then a manager for ConAgra Foods, Inc. in Arcadia, Louisiana. Mike went on to manage his own business, Crown Trading Company, Inc. Many years later, he owned a trucking company and even drove one of his trucks. No matter what, Mike always had a strong work ethic.Throughout his life he enjoyed working with his hands. He was blessed with the ability to fix or build anything! Mike loved using this God given gift to help others. In his quiet manner, he touched people hearts and spread God's love. Mike adored his family and they never doubted his love.Mike went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at LSU Health in Shreveport, Louisiana, surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and many other beloved family members.Survivors are his best friend and wife of 51 years, Jamie C. O'Banion; son, Michael W. O'Banion, Jr.; daughter, Joanna O. Peters and son-in-law, Charles T. Peters. All are from Ruston, Louisiana.A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 1:00 pm. Memorial Park Cemetery, 6707 Dollarway, in Whitehall, Arkansas 71602. Officiating will be Dr. Walter 'Bubba' Smith (Mike's cousin) of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas along with Rev. Rolly Walker of Ruston, Louisiana; Fr. James Benbrook of Monroe, Louisiana and Fr. Thomas Nsubuga of Shreveport, Louisiana.Following the Service everyone is invited to Harbor Oaks (New Orleans Room), One Harbor Oaks Drive; Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
