Funeral services for Michael Lane Gandy, 69 of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home ~ West Monroe. Bro. Prentis Gandy will officiate. Interment will follow at 4:00 P.M. at Salem Cemetery in Athens, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Michael was born on October 22, 1951 in Minden, Louisiana and passed away on December 27, 2020 in West Monroe, Louisiana at after a lengthy illness. A graduate of Winnsboro High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor Degree at Louisiana Tech University in Math and Physics. Michael also received a Masters Degree in Business at the University of Louisiana, Monroe. He was a member of First West Baptist Church and was retired from Franklin Parish Schools as a computer coordinator/educator. Michael also worked at EdGear, St. Frederick’s Catholic School, and the University of Louisiana, Monroe. He was a skilled photographer and musician. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Gandy.
Michael is survived by his wife, Candace Hutcheson Gandy; mother, Martene B. Gandy; children, Casey Gandy Brown and husband Kenny, Nathanael Lane Gandy and wife Amanda Hall, Audrey Gandy Trisler and husband Tyler; two step-children, Tia Hexom and Nathan Hexom; sister, Patricia “Pat” Gandy; grandchildren, Anna Claire Brown Hemphill and husband Spencer, Logan Brown, Cade Brown, Zoe Gandy-Hall; step- granddaughter, Susanna Crowe; great-grandchild, Ainsley Brown; many cherished family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Paul Gandy, Jerry Gandy, Jimmy Gandy, Bill Powell, Logan Brown, and Cade Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Powell, Mark Smith, and Danny Remore.
